Orange Line BRT

Transit and Transportation

The Orange Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is a 17-mile transit corridor designed to improve connectivity along Interstate 35W, one of the region’s busiest transportation routes. Connecting Minneapolis, Richfield, Bloomington, and Burnsville, the Orange Line provides frequent service via a dedicated priority lane on 35W, enhancing travel efficiency for commuters across the southern metro area. As part of a $150 million project, 4RM+ULA led the design and documentation for six suburban station areas, along with updates to existing stations in downtown Minneapolis, working as a subconsultant to HNTB.

The design of the Orange Line stations focuses on creating functional, user-friendly transit hubs that seamlessly integrate with their surrounding neighborhoods. 4RM+ULA's work on the project ensured that each station is responsive to its specific context while enhancing the overall transit experience. By improving access to key destinations and reducing travel time, the Orange Line BRT plays a critical role in expanding mobility options and reducing congestion along one of the region’s most vital corridors.
