With over 20 years of experience in architecture, Lyssa Washington is a dedicated leader in community-driven design. She has led numerous community engagement initiatives, ensuring that underrepresented voices are not only heard but actively integrated into the design process. Lyssa has embraced the blend of the built environment at all scales with the social spaces...Her work on 38th & Chicago Re-Envisioned and the Philando Castile Peace Garden highlights her commitment to bridging the gap between design and social impact. As a LEED AP in Building Design & Construction, Lyssa champions sustainable, inclusive spaces that truly reflect the communities they serve. Her work on projects like Great River Landing combined the built form with the social impacts that architecture can achieve.Lyssa earned her Master of Architecture and Certificate of Preservation Studies from Tulane University . In addition to her professional contributions, she has served as Chapter President of MSP AoA NOMA, advocating for equity and representation within the architectural profession. She currently serves on the board for the Minnesota Landmarks, an organization committed to accessible cultural programming.
